During the summer of 2014, a friend and I were waiting in line for a beer at the Draught Works Brewery in Missoula. It was crowded and the wait was a few minutes. The vibe was friendly and we ended up making small talk with the guy in front of us. Turned out he was on a fishing road trip across the west and didn't know anyone in town.
He was camping out of a Subaru and exploring on his way from California to Colorado where he had a gallery showing for his art. He joined our group for a beer and we made plans to float the Clark Fork the next day. We ended up having a great day of fishing and I met him again a week later to fish the Madison.
Casey's art is really impressive. Some of his recent fish portraits are gorgeous and I expect he will grab the attention of the angling community rather quickly. I really love the shadowing effect on his work as well. It adds depth and breathes life into the scene. You can view more portraits and contact Casey about his work at caseyunderwoodart.com.
